Dates: October 21st – November 1st 2024
Dear students,
We are happy to announce that we are organizing a new trip to India to Bangalore and Arunji’s center in Ramanagara, 64 kilometers from Bangalore.
During this trip, two different workshops will be held to celebrate various events: Arunji’s birthday (70th), the launch of his new book, and other celebrations.
Workshops at Prashant Yogashraya, Bangalore, 21th-25th October 2024
- The first event will be a series of workshops/special classes at Prashant Yogashraya (Arunji and his wife Srimata’s yoga school in Jayanagar, Bangalore), for which you will need to arrange your own accommodation.
- Dates: October 21st – 25th 2024 (5 days).
- There will be two classes per day, 9-10:30 a.m. and 5-7:30 p.m.
- This first part will give you the opportunity to practice among all the local students of Arunji’s hometown. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience the “real feeling” of daily classes offered to the local students with Arunji.
- Pricing: €30 per day, including 2 meals, tea/coffee = €150 for the full 5 days
- Accommodation for this first part is not included, so it will have to be organized by the student.
Residential workshop at PYRC, Ramanagara, October 27th-November 1st 2024
- The second event will be a 5-day residential worskshop in Ramanagara, south of Bangalore. Accommodation and meals are included in this course.
- Dates: October 27th – November 1st 2024
- Every day will consist of a 3-hour class early in the morning followed by brunch, then a rest time and in the evening there will be a 2-hour Prānāyāma class followed by dinner. During your stay at PYRC there will also be cultural events.
- Pricing: €60 per day, which includes accommodation, food and yoga classes = €300 for the entire course.
- There will also be an additional charge for round trip transportation to Ramanagara (around 1000 rupees, but in any case it is not an excessive charge at all)
Key information:
- Plan to arrive in Bangalore about 2 days before the workshop if possible to recover from jet lag and be mentally and physically ready for classes with Arunji.
- If you want to be there for Arunji’s birthday, you need to be in Bangalore by October 19th (but considering the time difference and recovering from the long journey I recommend you arrive on the 17th instead). And if you are also planning to participate to the PYRC workshop, you should plan to return no earlier than November 2nd. And of course for those who want to travel and discover more of this wonderful country, enjoy!
- For the residential workshop at PYRC, please plan to bring your towels and other personal necessities such as snacks, cookies, dried fruits…
- Also bring toilet paper (if you want/need): toilets in India often don’t have toilet paper, just a jet spray to clean yourself.
- You do not need a particular level of practice to participate in this course.
About our teacher, Arunji
For more than the past three and a half decades, Arunji has practised and taught the art and science of Yoga. Known for his wit and humour, Arunji teaches this intense and sacred subject with a lightness that is known to anyone who has witnessed his teaching, while keeping the intensity of the practice.
Born in Sringeri, in South India in 1954, Sri Arun grew up in Bangalore. When he was teaching at a Yoga centre in Bangalore in the year 1979 he met Guruji B.K.S.Iyengar. Arunji became Guruji’s disciple and received several intensive classes which were held at the Iyengar Institute in Pune. He also honed his practice with both Prashantji and Geetaji Iyengar.
Over the years, Arunji has developed his own way of sharing what he has learnt from his gurus and through his own extensive practice. In the past 37 years, thousands of students have come from all over the world to learn from him at Prashant Yogashraya, his yoga centre in Bangalore, where he teaches along with his wife, Srimāthāji.
About Prashant Yogashraya Ramanagara Centre (PYRC)
In 2015 Arunjis yoga school, Prashant Yogashraya Bangalore, celebrated its 31 successful years of imparting yogic education. On November 2nd, 2016 Prashant Yogashraya at Bangalore, celebrated the official opening of their Ramanagara centre, 64 kilometres from Bangalore. The Prashant Yogashraya Ramanagara Center has been the dream child of the founders – Shri H.S. Arun and his wife Shreematha.
PYRC is in a hilly landscape and the wide open spaces of relatively untouched nature makes Ramanagara a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungles we live in. The centre has a beautiful Yoga hall for 100 + students to practice. The hall boasts of large windows & glass doors that provide a great view of the majestic mountains behind with cool breeze through the day. It also has a two-storey building with 18 rooms that can accommodate upto 40 students, a large kitchen with a dining hall, a gazebo and soon to come will be an organic vegetable garden with lots of fruit trees around.
PYRC is a Health and Education Centre dedicated to the practice of Yoga imparted through H.S. Arun: Guru/Master/Teacher/Sir or simply called Arunji. His vision is to provide as many people as possible a path to a healthier lifestyle through yoga and this vision is unified by a commitment to high-quality teaching and respect for each student’s requirement. For the past seven years, Yoga practitioners local and abroad have come to Bangalore to celebrate the annual Prashant Yogashraya Yoga festival and longed for a place of their own. Their dreams, generous monetary support and dedication for Yoga blossomed and gave rise to the new centre.
PYRC is working towards organising the International Yoga Festival workshop annually apart from many interim programs through the year. Workshops are held for a week in February, July and October for seekers of health and education. Besides enjoying intensive yoga sessions, participants get to appreciate talks and knowledge sharing sessions by Ayurvedic doctors, Naturopathy practitioners and philosophers and also witness some of the traditional cultural arts of India.
